On 15 December 2020, a virtual meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization Petteri Taalas.

During the meeting, Mr. Peteri Taalas presented a detailed information about the Water and Climate Coalition for Sustainable Development Goal 6. The objective of the coalition is to build momentum on water action through implementing concrete activities at the national, regional and global levels.

Minister of Foreign Affairs in his turn informed his counterpart on the efforts and initiatives of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in the field of water and climate change. The importance of discussing the consequences of climate change and the need to protect glaciers, as well as the importance of strengthening cooperation in the framework of the Dushanbe Water Process was noted.
