Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs with the Executive Secretary of UNESCAP

On 6 April 2021, a virtual meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana.

The parties discussed issues on mitigation оf the socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, UN reforms, international initiatives of Tajikistan and it’s participation in the 77th session of ESCAP to be held on April 26-29, 2021 via video conference format.

Moreover, the perspectives of cooperation in water, energy and economic spheres were discussed by parties. In this regard, it was noted that to support the member-countries in achieving of the 2030 Agenda, it is important to accelerate the cooperation mechanism of the UN regional commissions with the UN country team by attracting investments, including from private sector.
